100+ Women Who Care Sanibel-Captiva Celebrates SCCF as April's Grant Recipient; Giving Circle now at 198 Members

100+ Women Who Care Sanibel-Captiva gathered members for an inspiring morning of giving and community impact on April 7th, the last of the year's meetings.

Three outstanding nonprofits shared their missions with the group: Mary Bondurant representing the Pink Project, Angi Semler Welch with the Sanibel Community House, and Allie Pecenka with Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF).

Following the vote, SCCF was selected to receive the primary grant of $20,000+ in support of its Gopher Tortoise project. The 100+ Women leadership also recognized the achievement of reaching 198 members. 100+ Women Sanibel Captiva has raised more than $70,000 in 2026 to support deserving organizations across our beautiful islands.

Thanks to the generosity of anonymous members, the additional presenting nonprofits also received small grants to support their important work. Dorothy Plumb from the Sanibel School Fund reported on the use of  the funds awarded by 100+ Women Who Care last April. In addition, recipients of funds from February and March received their checks at the meeting.

A special thank you to our season sponsor, Florida Trust Wealth Management, and to the Charitable Foundation of the Islands for their continued support.

A season-end happy hour will be held on Tuesday, April 28th at Congress Jewelers from 4pm-6pm. To learn more about the program and upcoming events, visit sancap100.org.

100+ Women Who Care Sanibel-Captiva Grows to 175 Members, Awards $20,000 Donation to CROW

The Sanibel Captiva Chapter of 100+ Women Who Care (Sancap100.org) celebrated a milestone at its March 10 meeting, announcing membership has grown to more than 175 women.

More than 80 members gathered in person and on Zoom to hear presentations from three local nonprofits: Deborah Larson for the Sanibel Music Festival, Clair Beckmann for the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium, and Corrie Presland-Byrne for CROW (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife).

Following the vote, CROW was selected to receive the primary donation. Wave Makers Jane Majeski and Pam Browning announced the award will total more than $20,000. Thanks to the generosity of anonymous donors, the additional presenting nonprofits will also receive a donation to support their important work.

Members also heard an update from the Children’s Education Center of the Islands (CECI) on the impact of last year’s $12,600 donation, along with a $5,000 grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation; the funding supported the installation of a No-See-Um insect misting system, helping create a safer and more comfortable outdoor environment for the children and staff.

It was a wonderful morning celebrating generosity, impact, and the power of women coming together to support local nonprofits.

The next meeting is April 7. We welcome new members and hope to see you there for another inspiring morning of giving and community impact.

A special thank you to our season sponsor, Florida Trust Wealth Management.
